For many families, Halloween is one of the hardest holidays of the year. Unfamiliar costume textures and seams, strangers in masks, loud crowds, and sensory-heavy candy can turn a favorite holiday into sensory overload for kids with Autism, sensory processing disorder, or ADHD — and too often, these families end up sitting it out.
That's why our Sensory Sensitive Sundays is built around Halloween itself. We're giving these kids a version of the holiday they can enjoy on their own terms — costumes, candy, games, and characters — without the triggers that make the real thing so hard.
It's a small adjustment that makes a big difference for the families who need it, and it's exactly what our Sensory Sensitive Sundays™ and Sensory Sensitive Birthday programs, developed in partnership with Autism Speaks, were built to do.
