SPCA Tampa Bay will waive adoption fees for all available pets on Sat., Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of its annual Clear the Shelters campaign.
Adoptions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will include dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, pocket pets, reptiles, birds and other adoptable animals. Animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped.
Throughout August, SPCA Tampa Bay is also waiving adoption fees for select pets, primarily animals that have been at the shelter the longest.
The event will also feature food trucks and photo opportunities for attendees. Those planning to adopt should arrive prepared with a leash, collar or carrier for their new pet.
Clear the Shelters is a national pet adoption initiative in partnership with NBCUniversal Local.
SPCA Tampa Bay hopes to find homes for as many animals as possible during Clear the Shelters and surpass the 294 adoptions completed last August.
The Aug. 29 event gives families the opportunity to meet animals throughout the shelter while eliminating adoption fees as a potential barrier to bringing home a new pet.
