Join us in-person or virtually for ZooTampa’s first-ever Venom Symposium!
This two-day educational event is designed to bring together first responders, medical professionals, and herpetologists to advance knowledge surrounding venomous animal encounters and envenomation care.
This symposium will feature expert speakers from across the fields of emergency medicine, toxicology, wildlife biology, and reptile husbandry, providing attendees with a multidisciplinary perspective on venomous species and the medical management of bites and stings.
We’re honored to have Dr. Benjamin Abo as our keynote speaker, an EMS physician and well-known contributor to the Venom One and Venom Two response teams throughout the state of Florida.
Attendees will explore topics including:
Identification and behavior considerations for venomous reptiles and aquatic species
Prehospital and emergency department treatment of envenomation
Case studies involving snakebites, marine envenomation, and exotic species
Participants will gain practical knowledge that can improve scene safety, patient outcomes, and interagency coordination when responding to venom-related emergencies.
Whether you work in EMS, healthcare, wildlife management, zoological institutions, or public safety, this symposium provides a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts and connect with professionals who manage venomous species and envenomation incidents.
