Countdown Improv Festival Matinee for Kids and Families at HCC Performing Arts Ybor City

The Countdown Improv Festival triumphantly returns to the HCC Ybor Performing Arts Building in the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa for our seventh big year on August 9-12, 2023. We are incredibly excited to introduce our first-ever matinee performance on Saturday, August 12, which will be geared towards introducing young audiences and their families to the joy and magic of improv comedy.
The matinee will have two parts. You are welcome to take part in one or both!
Workshop (60 minutes, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM)
Introduction to Improv for Kids and Teens
Join Anthony Francis, the founder of Improv U and an experienced professional improviser and teacher, for an engaging and interactive workshop designed to introduce kids and teens to the exciting world of improv comedy. With a focus on fun games and activities, this workshop will help participants develop their creativity, teamwork, and quick thinking skills while having a blast.
During this workshop, Anthony will guide participants through a series of dynamic exercises specifically tailored to their age group (8 to 14 years old). Through a mix of group games and individual activities, kids and teens will learn the fundamental principles of improvisation in a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment.
Family-Friendly Improv Performance (75 minutes, 1:15 PM - 2:30 PM)

The workshop is open to students between the ages of 8 and 14. The family-friendly performance is suitable for all ages, and all are welcome to attend (including those younger than 8.)
