International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (ICFBD) was first celebrated in the 1960s, on a snowy morning in Rochester, NY. Too cold to go outside, Florence Rappaport needed something to entertain her two youngest children—so she declared it Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Her kids reminded her of the day the following year, on the 1st Saturday in February, and the tradition was born. The holiday has since grown in notoriety with celebrations held across the globe.
